A 4th grader used email to communicate with faculty and express immediate concern for the lives of people thousands of miles away.

Over the weekend various altruistic girls made posters to raise awareness, and sold bracelets, baked goods, and lemonade.  They collected much needed funds to help those in Nepal without homes and clean water.  Altogether, the lower school girls have raised over $700 completely from their own initiative.

Yesterday, the whole Lower School became engaged in the relief effort.  A first grader spoke to the entire group explaining what took place in Nepal and why help was so desperately needed.  Girls were then divided into groups to brainstorm ways they could assist.  They came up with an array of ideas, everything from donating funds to reinforce buildings, to sending stuffed animals to comfort children.

The girls are now in the process of thoughtfully planning their next steps.  Stay tuned to learn more about where the funds will go and other actions for this ongoing relief effort.
